Ruth (Ruthy) Gudaitis was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) on January 30, 2019.
CJD is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease. Currently, no cure or treatments to slow the disease exists. We are all at a loss for words. Much too soon and too fast.

Ruth has loved and cherished us all and has tirelessly devoted herself to her family and her community.
To honour Ruth’s work with children and the arts, a music education scholarship fund in her name – the Ruth Lee Gudaitis Music Scholarship – has been set up within the South Georgian Bay Music Foundation.

In lieu of meals or flowers, Ruthy and her family ask that any outpouring of loving support is made to the scholarship fund. Please donate here. (These donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be sent for donations over $20).  The Donate link below sometimes needs 2 clicks because of the volume of people donating! Thank you.
*If you could also send a brief email to indicating your donation should be directed to Ruth Lee Gudaitis Music Scholarship, Thank You.

Ruthy and her family sincerely appreciate your care and concern at this difficult time.

The South Georgian Bay Music Foundation (SGBMF) has been established to advance music education in the South Georgian Bay area: Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Stayner, Thornbury and Meaford by providing a variety of musical performances and fundraisers presenting jazz, blues, First Nations, Gospel, bands and choral groups.

SGB Music Foundation appreciates your SUPPORT, IDEAS AND DONATIONS to keep music alive in the schools and to advance a variety of musical forms in the South Georgian Bay area.

We look forward to seeing you at The Station this summer.
Visit Jazz & Blues at the Station website to read full band bios.

It is recognized that all of the South Georgian Bay area elementary and secondary schools have needs for musical instruction, musical instruments, costs of trips to music events and cost of staging shows.  The South Georgian Bay Music Foundation (SGBMF) has been established to raise funds to help students experience the rewards and opportunities of a music education by increasing music presentations and financial support for these musical needs.

There is a need in South Georgian Bay for a performing Arts Centre that can be shared by various music, theatre and arts groups. Together we can make it happen.

Thank you for supporting music in the South Georgian Bay area.

SGB Music Foundation has chosen from many talented students to feature Dylan Burchell on our website to showcase the quality of the Collingwood Collegiate Institute Music Program. Dylan Burchell, who graduated from CCI in 2016, is studying in the prestigious Jazz Program at Humber College in Toronto.  In 2016 Dylan and his band played an opening set for Jazz and Blues at The Station summer concert series. This summer, 2018,  Dylan will be playing as a sideman with Jordan John touring across North America as well as performing his own solo acoustic performances around the Collingwood area. Dylan appreciates the support and encouragement of these community organizations that help the careers of young musicians
