OUR GOAL:
Our goal at the South Georgian Bay Music Foundation is to support music education in our area schools. Music education has an impact on all learning. It makes children smarter and stimulates their brains, requiring them to simultaneously listen for the beat, read along with sheet music, and coordinate their movements to play the instrument or dance with the rhythm.
The 2022 Jazz and Blues LIVE at The Station shows in the park raised $8,000. With the help of our amazing sponsors and the generosity of all guests in attendance at VineStock 2022, we raised an astounding $8300 for South Georgian Bay Music Foundation!
This year’s donations of $16,300 will be put towards music programs at several local secondary schools
- Collingwood Collegiate Institute,
- Stayner Collegiate Institute
- Georgian Bay Community School in Meaford
We donated to music programs at elementary schools throughout South Georgian Bay.
- In Collingwood – St. Mary’s Catholic School, Cameron Street Public School, Connaught Public School, Notre Dame de la Huronie Catholic Elementary School, Admiral, and Mountain View.
- In Wasaga Beach – St. Noel Chabanel Catholic School, Worsley Elementary School.
- In Stayner – Clearview Meadows Elementary School.
- In Markdale – Beavercrest Community School.
- In Thornbury – Beaver Valley Community School.
- In Meaford – Georgian Bay Community School Elementary.
Unfortunately, Our Lady Of the Bay CHS did not have a music program in 2022-2023 due to the impact of Covid. All of our area schools need to keep music alive with the students. You can help.
PLAYING IT FORWARD
It is recognized that all of the South Georgian Bay area elementary and secondary schools have needs for musical instruction, musical instruments, costs of trips to music events and cost of staging shows. The South Georgian Bay Music Foundation (SGBMF) has been established to raise funds to help students experience the rewards and opportunities of music education by increasing music presentations and financial support for these musical needs.
In addition to supporting music programs in schools, there is also a need in South Georgian Bay for a Performing Arts Centre that can be shared by various music, theatre and arts groups. Let’s work together to make it happen.
Thank you for supporting music in the South Georgian Bay area.
